An engaging session exploring how practical initiatives can empower migrant and refugee women and address real social challenges. It offers a glimpse into the work of Associazione IROKO Onlus and is presented through a slideshow and soft background music, creating an accessible way to explore social innovation.
Founded in 1998, Associazione IROKO Onlus has over 25 years of experience supporting women and vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by trafficking and exploitation. The organization promotes inclusion, participation, and empowerment through training activities and community initiatives, actively working to prevent trafficking and promote human rights.
The session introduces the association’s work and presents the “Support & Knowledge Creates Stronger Women” project, which helps migrant and refugee women better understand their rights and actively participate in community life. The project combines structured training with cultural and artistic activities, fostering inclusion and intercultural dialogue.
The PIHMAC project, which focuses on preventing human trafficking, will also be presented, with awareness-raising activities and support for professionals in identifying and assisting victims.
Sharing IROKO’s work is important for highlighting often overlooked challenges and fostering more aware and inclusive communities. Through initiatives on empowerment, inclusion, and trafficking prevention, the session makes these topics more relevant and fosters greater awareness. Participants will gain a better understanding of these issues and empowerment initiatives, as well as the opportunity to connect with future activities.
